The film is based on the book, Jesus in Egypt, by New York Times bestselling author, Paul Perry.

I was impressed with the insightful and thought provoking film, Jesus: The Lost Years. The journey of The Savior as He, Mary and Joseph traveled through Egypt is so fascinating as described in this film. Although scripture does not give us this detail…it is a wonderful historical and faith-building documentary that is a very good film. I know you will enjoy this movie.

Jesus: The Lost Years is a wonderfully made film based on the book by Paul Perry. I encourage you to not only see the film but use the film in your Bible studies and Small Group studies. To contemplate the agony Jesus and His family experienced in their journey through Egypt gripped me. The detail and beauty of the film are worth it alone.

As I watched Jesus: The Lost Years, I was fascinated by the oral history that has been passed down for so many generations. There is so much we do not know, and so much we have not been told, that may not pertain to our salvation, but is of great interest. I enjoyed this film which historically points out the lost years of Jesus and His family in Egypt.

Jesus, The Lost Years is a fascinating film. I encourage you to not only see the film, but use it in your churches and especially with your youth groups as a tool that will engage your small groups in discussions of faith. Paul Perry does a great job of distinguishing biblical truth and oral tradition as he journeys through the ancient, and modern Egypt. It is a wonderful documentary of the journey that Mary, Joseph and Young Jesus must have traveled during their time in Egypt.

Dr. Mike Taylor, National Missions Coordinator and National Youth Leader Fellowship of the Woodlands Houston, Texas

While watching Jesus, The Lost Years I was captivated by the beauty of the film and the thought of Mary, Joseph and Jesus traveling through Egypt. What a journey that Paul Perry takes us on throughout Egypt! I was impressed with Paul’s willingness to not exaggerate or assume that oral tradition is accurate, but to also have the same willingness to seek the path that Jesus may have traveled throughout the years that scripture tells us He was in Egypt. I really encourage you to see the film and see for yourself.

What beautiful videography! Jesus, The Lost Years is such a wonderful documentary with some fascinating thoughts regarding Jesus and His earthly family. Although scripture is complete and without error, I found myself captivated by the oral traditions passed from generation to generation. The thoughts of Joseph, Mary and Jesus moving through the Sinai Desert and throughout Egypt as soldiers hunted them is a concept many Christians never think of…yet Matthew is clear that they did indeed travel to Egypt. This film is a thought-provoking and wonderfully prepared documentary.

Jesus, The Lost Years is a film that was worth seeing if just for the scenery. The beautiful video of ancient Egypt is wonderful. I was pleased to see that Paul Perry did not force oral history or non-biblical history on the lost years, but rather posed the questions of where Jesus and His family may have traveled. It is a film that you should watch and a film that will challenge your thinking regarding these years that Jesus Christ was in Egypt. I encourage you to see the film and discuss it with your Sunday School Class or Small Group.

"Like novelists such as Dan Brown, author of The Da Vinci Code, Perry now works along the wide road between religious orthodoxy and lore-based fiction. Such blends seem likely to spread as Christians and Muslims, develop new cross/crescent interactions rather than the current mix of mutual ignorance and terrorism."

Beliefnet.com

"Perry's portrayals of (those) he meets on his journey, his retelling of stories about miracles attributed to the baby and his amusing style combine to make a delightful read, even for skeptical Westerners."

Publishers Weekly

"This beautifully written book is a wonderful example of West meets East. It is an account of our ancient tradition through Western eyes, a mix of Western inquiry and Middle Eastern faith and tradition."

Bishop Marcos, Coptic Orthodox Bishop of Shubra al-Kheima, Cairo, Egypt
